Transitions

Alamo Danville Artists’ Society will host the opening of Blackhawk Gallery’s new Exhibit ‘Transitions’. Gala Reception will be held on Saturday December 3 from 5 to 7pm, with wine and Hors d’oeuvre. The exhibit will be on view seven days a week from December 2, 2016 to February 5, 2017. The Reception and Exhibit are free and open to the public.

The ‘Transitions’ exhibit features one guest artist and forty-one member artists. Guest artist Jeff Kent will be showing his hand crafted cribbage and chess boards. Members’ artworks include paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, photographs, and wearable art.

The exhibit is curated by Debby Koonce, Kerima Swain and Beverly Turner.

Jeff Kent Hand Crafted Cribbage and Chess Boards

Artist Statement

I create and sell my own original designs of cribbage and chess boards from my small woodworking shop in Northern California. Cribbage boards (and chess boards) lend themselves nicely to being made with beautiful, exotic and interesting looking woods. Since my boards are like snowflakes (no 2 are alike), you are guaranteed of receiving (or even giving) a truly unique board that can be passed onto your children’s grandchildren.

My boards are made in small series. These are boards that have something in common (typically the board face is made from the same piece of wood) and each board in that series has a unique name. I typically make about a hundred or more cribbage boards a year and chose Etsy to offer some of my more elaborate and interesting looking cribbage and chess boards.
