GUEST ARTIST

Fiber Art as a Means of Expression

 “Dimension, Manipulation, Innovation and Experimentation”

Implementation of what is in my mind’s eye requires constant adjustment and innovation. My love of textiles and the touch and feel of fabric and its myriad applications such as cutting, tearing, folding, stitching, dyeing, stamping, embossing, bleaching, painting, weaving, braiding, knitting and more has led me to focus my artistic endeavors on Fiber Art. My work has progressed over time from more traditional and “functional” quilted works to contemporary fiber artworks that experiment with original design concepts, surface treatments and construction techniques.

 “BelleBoites” (Beautiful Boxes)

My Fiber Art journey continues with funky, folded, “3-D” fabric boxes made from original designs. Experimenting with fabric manipulation, free-motion stitching, thread-sketching and other methods of surface treatment and embellishment, my BelleBoites take quilting to a new dimension.

These fabric boxes are ideal to use as keepsake or jewelry boxes as they have soft interiors to protect your most precious possessions.

Background

Linda grew up in Los Altos, studied music in Europe and received a degree in Art (with a concentration in ceramics) from San Jose State University. After a career in sales, she decided start being serious about her art or drop it entirely and has never looked back. She has participated over the years at numerous San Francisco Bay Area Arts and Crafts venues and after settling in Benicia, has had membership in several local arts organizations including (at present) Arts Benicia.
