Our Guest Artists
All his life, Don Donovan has always had an unquenchable thirst to create, especially in multi dimensional designs. He tries to challenge himself by using uncommon, abstract materials for his creations. He finds that using unconventional materials in conventional ways and the reverse, using conventional materials in unconventional ways, to be a very rewarding artistic pursuit. His latest addiction is the “SteamPunk” genre that is currently on display, for your enjoyment. His “SteamPunk” collection vary in size from small individual pieces, to a full size working replica of Jules Vern’s “The Time Machine.” (train railcar version.)
In his SteamPunk creations, he has tried to meld unique looking, inanimate mechanical devices into whimsical, living mechanical creatures that seem to come to life.As an Art Major in college, he studied commercial art which included design and sculpture. He left college and started his own advertising company in Los Angeles, creating weekly ads and company logos. He has always strived to create art work that is truly different and unusual, where the audience appreciates the uniqueness of his work.
