Thais Helena Ouzounian is a Brazilian self-taught mixed media artist.  Married and the mother of two boys, she has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past eighteen years.
Thais began her professional life as a lawyer in Brazil.  Once she moved to California, she became deeply touched by the spirit and autumn colors of the West Coast.  Combining this enchantment with her great passion for life, she began putting feelings onto canvas and creating art to “stir the soul”.
Her original idea was to explore mixed media collage with the “canvas” provided by the leaves of nature.  As her art came alive, much of her innovative organic work is a synergy of natural elements, collage, painting and inspirational quotes/poems.
“Thais’ recent explorations in painting and collage inventively combine media to produce insightful works, reflecting the strength and dignity of thoughtful living.”  “There is an explosive energy to these collages that capture the inspirational, sometimes fleeting, moments of life”, says Randy Dutra, artist and Academy Award Nominee.
The artist has exhibited her work at galleries in the San Francisco Bay Area like the O’Hanlon Gallery in Mill Valley, Bankhead Theater Gallery in Livermore and the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton. For the last four years Thais has displayed her work at Blackhawk Gallery in Danville.
Her painting The Most Beautiful Children Of Earth made in 2015 to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the United Nations is part of its permanent art collection in New York.
